Chirila made something that made me write something

Today as I was lurkingly looking in my messenger list I saw a link on someone’s status to a youtube clip, and since that person is ok in my book, I decided to check it out. Turns out it’s a video for a Vama song, “Pe sarma” to be more specific. My opinion of Vama or Vama veche’s music is strongly related to Tudor Chirila, who I for some reason can’t stand. Normally there should be no problem because I don’t really give a shit about.. anyone, and I am sure the people who I write about don’t know I exist, but, I also accept him. And that’s very aggravating. The same strange thing happened with Morandi, I hate him/them but I can’t deny the relative quality of their work, at least in a mainstream sense. So back to Chirila and my spite towards him. It probably started at a Cerbul de Aur festival, when he appeared on stage barefoot and again, for some reason that provoked a great deal of hate in me, making me unable to like his work. His movie career didn’t help much either, especially after that flick where he’s that incestuous brother, a movie I saw only in hopes of nude lesbian erotic scenes between the main characters. But hearing his new song, I wonder, why do people like so much rhymeless lyrics? What great genius lays behind them? I for one do not understand, and if I don’t understand, surely I must be right. It’s safe to say that the audience of so called artists, whether they are poets or singers enjoy these generic, easily accesible lines because anyone can do them! I see no difference between the lyrics of his last work and the achievement of microwave heating a shaorma. One does not require that much grey matter to do this, it’s possible to train a dolphin to write an hit album this way, and by any means a dolphin is more interesting than Chirila. Now, I am sure his solid fan base will look upon this single as just another amazing piece of songwriting common to him, thus proving that his hardcore fans are idiots. I rest my case.
